Why it matters
Need a chartered surveyor or valuer in Chiswick?
Yes — Chiswick is one of our busiest patches in West London, and we have surveyed and valued widely across W4 in recent years. This is a riverside suburb, mostly in the London Borough of Hounslow (with Bedford Park and Acton Green falling into Ealing), and its housing is largely period: Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas, the Arts-and-Crafts houses of Bedford Park — London’s first garden suburb — the large detached homes of Grove Park, the Victorian cottages of the Glebe Estate, and the Georgian houses that line the river at Strand-on-the-Green and Chiswick Mall. Websters is a firm of RICS chartered surveyors and registered valuers, and our surveyors know this market well.

What we see in Chiswick property
Chiswick’s housing stock
Chiswick is one of West London’s classic period suburbs. Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas make up much of the stock, with the Grade II-listed Arts-and-Crafts houses of Bedford Park, the large Edwardian and 1930s detached homes of Grove Park (some with Thames frontages), the Victorian cottages of the Glebe Estate, and the Georgian riverside houses of Strand-on-the-Green and Chiswick Mall. Mansion blocks such as those around Turnham Green and the 1930s flats of Chiswick Village add a good stock of flats. It is an affluent, settled family market.
Period houses, surveys and high values
With so many period houses, home surveys are the core of our Chiswick work: on a Victorian, Edwardian or riverside house a Level 3 Building Survey lets us report properly on roofs, rear and loft additions, basements and any structural movement. Alongside that we handle mansion-flat lease extensions and enfranchisement and valuations for probate, matrimonial, capital-gains, Help to Buy and shared ownership. Many of Chiswick’s larger houses sit above the £2m threshold for the new High Value Council Tax Surcharge, which the Valuation Office is banding on 2026 values, so owners increasingly want an independent RICS valuation to check or challenge a band.
The tidal Thames, London Clay and conservation
Chiswick’s southern edge is the tidal Thames, and the riverside at Strand-on-the-Green and Chiswick Mall floods at high tide, so on a riverside home the flood position is a headline issue we check through the searches. Away from the river the ground is London Clay, where seasonal movement near mature trees is a recognised cause of subsidence in the period houses, so we look for movement and past underpinning. Much of the area is designated — Bedford Park, Strand-on-the-Green, Chiswick Mall and Grove Park among others, with many listed buildings — so alterations carry conservation-area and listed-building considerations.

Common questions
Chiswick surveyors — your questions
Yes — Bedford Park, Grove Park, the Glebe Estate, Strand-on-the-Green, Chiswick Mall and the streets across W4, an area we cover. Much of our team works across West London; when you instruct us, an RICS surveyor who knows the area inspects the property.
Much of our team works across West London, so we can usually arrange a survey or valuation in Chiswick within a few working days, and often sooner. Tell us the address and the report you need and we will confirm availability when we quote.
On a Victorian, Edwardian or riverside house we would usually recommend a Level 3 Building Survey, looking closely at the roof, rear and loft additions, any basement and any structural movement — the ground is London Clay with many mature trees. If the house is on the river at Strand-on-the-Green or Chiswick Mall we flag the tidal flood position, and where it is listed or in a conservation area such as Bedford Park we flag the consents that alterations carry.
Home surveys start from £650 + VAT, valuations from £500 + VAT and leasehold reform valuations from £550 + VAT; Party Wall work is priced by scope. We give a fixed quote once we know the property and the report you need.
